Review – Summer Wars (2009 Anime Movie)

I had been intended to review this movie since long, but losing the file makes me confused how to start it all over again.

From animenewsnetwork:

When timid eleventh-grader and math genius Kenji Koiso is asked by older student and secret crush Natsuki to come with her to her family’s Nagano home for a summer job, he agrees without hesitation. Natsuki’s family, the Jinnouchi clan, dates back to the Muromachi era, and they’ve all come together to celebrate the 90th birthday of the spunky matriarch of the family, Sakae. That’s when Kenji discovers his “summer job” is to pretend to be Natsuki’s fiancé and dance with her at the birthday celebration. As Kenji attempts to keep up with Natsuki’s act around her family, he receives a strange math problem on his cell phone which, being a math genius, he can’t resist solving. As it turns out, the solution to the mysterious equation causes a hijacking of the social networking site through which most of the world’s social and business traffic flows.

So… here it is. Imagine a world, where your real life and your net-life can’t be separated no more, where your real life is integrated into your created avatar, when you just need one account to cross all the border. That’s pretty much the world in “Summer Wars” in, and I can say this confidently, that our world most probably going to. about Summer Wars!

Movie – Sang Pemimpi

Bermimpilah, maka Tuhan akan memeluk mimpi-mimpi itu

“Dreams, Than God will embrace that dreams”.

Sang Pemimpi movie (2009), undoubtably, is one of the most anticipated movie in 2009. I’ve got too busy to review it after watched, but now I’ll review as usual.

Sang Pemimpi (based on novel Sang Pemimpi)

Sang Pemimpi (The Dreamer) is the sequel of Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops), which both of them based on novels of the same title written by Andrea Hirata.

As a sequel of Laskar Pelangi, while focused in Ikal’s Childhood, Sang Pemimpi focused on his adolescent life.

Ikal, now together with his Cousin, Arai and their friend, Jimbron got to the First built Senior High School in Belitong. The film mainly focuses on their life during these teenager times. It’s not just matter of  changes places, it shows the alteration of thought over the course of times. When we realize, the group not only showed the desire of studying, but also  youth desire of maturity, hard work to fulfilled their stomach by their own, to get loved, and most importantly: learn how to dream and get hold of that dream.

For addition, the movie also shows us how Ikal and Arai meet, how they meet Jimbron, and a glimpse of their childhood. The movie also shows how Ikal and Arai get their dream comes true, not bombastic miracles like other Indonesian’s film do, but a sweet fruit after great hard work.

This movie has too much aspect to discuss, from the light problem such as the group’s mischieveous act into heavy one such as: The Reality of Indonesian’s worker. This movie also  showing sarcasm of national problems (shown as Father Geovany who always accompanying Jimbron to Mosque, which showing critical problems nowadays, religion difference, isn’t a matter at all), and tons of touching scene which teach audience about Continue reading

Movie – Astro Boy (American Adaptation)

I write this off freshly after watch the movie, I’m telling you, this movie probably better if you don’t know who is Atom/Astro  before. For an adult/teenager who has known who Atom is, watching this film should be an unsatisfaction, since, honestly, I can’t get the most important thing in all Tetsuwan Atom’s series: the humanity. Over all, this is the synopsis:

The film take a setting in Metro city, a floating city which separated from earth (or they called it surface). Metro city growing into a paradise, where robots servicing human in every life aspect, and the surface just a junkyard of robot’s broken parts. -Read The Full Synopsis here!>

Movie – Slumdog Millionaire

After reviewing The Ugly Truth, my mind stuck with this thing: “It’s not Fair! Hey, I must review other movies too!”. And here they are, review of “Slumdog Millionaire”, (even though it’s late now). Hell, who doesn’t familiar with this title now? Yeah, after winning Best picture in Academy Awards 2009 and 7 other (after nominated in 10),Despite the conflict about kid actor’s payment, I should say, this film is totally awesome! this is probably the best Hindi film I’ve ever watch.

The movie opened in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Question Style:

Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees. How did he do it?

• A: He cheated                                          • B: He’s lucky

• C: He’s a genius                                        • D: It is written

Movie – The Ugly Truth

For a first time, I’m reviewing about a movie!

This is the latest movie I’ve watch, and just remember, all I’ve write in this blog (other words, my review) means I love them, so does this one!

I’ve just falling in love with this movie sooo much!

Shortly, The Ugly Truth is a romantic comedy starring by Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler.

Well, Honestly I don’t expect anything at the beginning of the movie, but during the movie I can’t keep silent, it’s just so funny! The question is Why did I enjoying it so much? The story is just predictable! I will answer: I don’t know! Even the story is predictable and kinda cheap one, I just love it! I found it just hilarious, so I think I’m just kinda get that flow and floating with it. Well, the actress is my favorite any way (the reason of watching this movie), Katherine Heigl is just soo beautiful! I’ve noticed her since Roswell series and I’ve love her appearance since then (though I’m a Woman). O yeah, before discussing this movie, you should see another poster of  The Ugly Truth:

I don’t know where the ideas come from, but this poster give a glimpse about ‘where’ love is in male or ..female…. In female, love is in thinking, but for man..yeah..you know where is it, and that is the main theme of this story (or that is what I think so..)
